Marvels of Rome Tour (starting from Rome)

This Marvels of Rome Tour is perfect for first time visitors, or those who wish to revisit the highlights of Rome in comfort and style.

On this tour you will have the opportunity to enjoy the marvels of Ancient Rome through the remarkable Renaissance era and finishing the tour with an unforgettable visit to the Vatican.

Your English speaking driver will meet you at your hotel accommodation for your fun filled tour of Rome.

As you journey through Rome to your tour destinations, you will see famous squares such as Piazza Venezia overlooked by the imposing white marble monument dedicated to Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of unified Italy in 1861.

While touring in “Ancient Rome” you have the opportunity to visit the Colosseum – one of the most famous ancient amphitheaters in the world and the iconic symbol of Rome.  It’s a wondrous structure that has marveled visitors and architects for centuries. In the ancient times, the Colosseum would sit up to 50,000 spectators as gladiatorial games, mock battles, beast hunts, as well as other performances and executions on its sandy arena.

Enjoy an unforgettable picturesque view of the Roman Forum with the Palatine Hill from a terrace on top of Capitoline Hill.  Nearby are the remains of the once grandiose chariot race stadium known as Circus Maximus. It is quite impressive with the imposing backdrop of Palatine Hill with its the ruins of the ancient imperial villas that overlooks it.

Not to be missed in Rome is the Pantheon (temple of all gods) – the 2,000 year old pagan temple that was converted into a church in 7th century. One of the best preserved ancient Roman buildings, the Pantheon has been in continuous use throughout its history. It’s massive circular dome has inspired architects since the Renaissance era and duplicated around the world.  When you enter, be sure to look up at the oculus in the center of the dome through which sunshine and nature’s elements flow into the interior of the ancient temple.

The elegant beauty and grace of Renaissance Rome is evident in its famous squares: The Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain.  Immortalized in classic movies such as “La Dolce Vita” and “Three Coins in A Fountain”, the Baroque Trevi Fountain continues to draw millions of visitors each year – many of which follow the long standing tradition of tossing a coin in the fountain to ensure a return visit to the Eternal City.

You will enjoy and Italian lunch at a local restaurant before your Marvels of Rome Tour continues in the afternoon. Your driver can assist you with suggestions for lunch.

Your next visit is Vatican City, the smallest country in the world.  While at the Vatican you will visit the treasure filled Vatican Museums, Michelangelo’s masterpieces inside the Sistine Chapel, and Saint Peter’s Basilica.

Upon completing your Vatican visit, you will be driven back to your hotel accommodation in Rome.
